Help Index :: :: SYNTAX garrote Using stealth and the garrote skill, a thief can sneak up behind an opponent and strangle them with either a whip or a specially-made instrument, also called a garrote. The garrote is typically a length of wire, rope, or cord with handles on each end. Generally, a thief can use the hilt of his main weapon as one of the handles of the garrote, so the garrote or whip is carried in the off-hand. The thief's victim will take some damage from a successful garroting, but more importantly will be choking and gasping for air, and unable to take other actions. Even speaking or casting spells will be very difficult. Extremely large creatures are harder to garrote, and some are too large for this technique entirely. Garroting with a whip is more difficult than using an actual garrote, but allows the thief to transition into dual-wielding combat more efficiently. A thief is unable to strike with other weapons while garroting. |
