As your mounted fighting skill improves, you will find it easier to parry with either hand, use a shield, guard from your opponents' attacks, or help your mount dodge more effectively. You will also hit your opponents more frequently, and cause greater damage when you do. None of these capabilities is overpowering itself, but the combination of all of them makes a skilled mounted fighter very formidable.
